Tuesday Training

Today was a great workout. I had a full morning of clients and then dropped right into my training. My hips are a little sore from Bikram's Yoga yesterday. The one thing I will say about Bikrams, other than the heat, is that the locust pose where you place you arms (palms down) underneath your body has completely alleviated my bilateral elbow pain. I have tried so many other techniques including massage and nothing has workred like that one pose. I am so happy I found a stretch that totally opens up my forearms. If you want to see what the pose looks like or if you have elbow pain, check out Yoana's blog in my blog links section. There you will find some pics of the Locust pose.

Bikram's Yoga

Forward Lunges
2 x 16kg's 4 x 5/5

Chin Ups (weighted)
32kg 2,2,2,2,2,2 = 12 reps

24kg 12 x 5/5 = 120 reps

felt great!

franz, tracy has had great success with bikram for her shoulders as well. she is doing some vinyassa lately and I have to say, evne though I make fun of bikram occasionally, it seemed better for her body than this.

Yes Rif, Bikram's as we know is not a fully equiped or complete system. But for what it is, I like it. It has alot of holes in it (as do alot of Yoga systems) but the proof is in the pudding. It has totally helped my elbows and the heat actually feels nice during this freezing winter. During the summer it might be hard for me to take Bikram's but now it is working quite well. I feel less stressed and more calm, which is a nice contrast to always trying to blast my body with explosive or high tension exercises. A little balance in life is a good thing :)

What's up Franz, good to hear from you? Yep, been doing CF for a while, class and business doing good. What about you, how's business with you, things going well.

What's up Adam,

Business is good, thanks. Things are progressing nicely. When is the next time you are making it up to the RKC?

I know mark already mentioned my experience with Bikram yoga and my shoulder. But I'll reiterate, I'm convinced "floor bow" and "camel", both of which I demonstrate on my blog healed my shoulder!

Vinyasa on the other hand just messed the same shoulder up pretty good. Lowering from a plank position incorrectly, because of my crooked left arm has left me in quite a bit of pain. But I'm still finding the challenge of this new style exciting.

I'll be back to Bikram for healing.

sorry about your shoulder. That is a bummer. All I know is that Bikram'as has completely healed my bilateral elbow pain. The pain has been so severe the last year and a half, I had to take weeks off a time to let them calm down. Thank God for the Locust pose, it has opened up my elbows and forearms :)

Maybe it's time for you to return to Bikram's?
