Love Being a DAD!!!

You gotta love the coconut bra :)

I gotta say that I love being a Dad. Every month gets better with our daughter and each month I like more than the previous one. It just keeps getting more and more exciting and awesome. All you parents out there will relate, the love you feel for a child is beyond comprehension. Rarely would you ever willingly die for anybody on this planet. But for your child, you would die in one second. In fact, the attachment I felt with Marianna when I first got to hold her was so strong, it was as if she had been in my life forever and I couldn't imagine life without her. How unreal? You know this little person for 1 minute and yet you would take a bullet for her without a second thought!

I think God uses children in our lives to teach us about life and about how he must unconditionally love us.

Hey Franz,

Being a daddy is pretty awesome. I just saw your post on my blog and the DD forum.

Franz,

You couldn't have said it better. It's so amazing how you would die in a heartbeat for your child. I couldn't imagine life without Lyla. I cry just thinking about it sometimes. Now to see if I can love the next baby as much as my first. Did you ever think you would feel this way about another person???

Agreed my brother, being a father is absolutely amazing. Parenting is never easy but it teaches us so much about ourselves.

It's amazing the love you feel for your own children!

Jason,

When you say south bay, do you mean San Diego?

If so, you have to stop by!

Franz Snideman said...

Lauren,

I'm sure you'll have plenty of love left over to give to the new baby.

To answer your question, NO. I never though I could this way about another person. Having Marianna has taught me how to love, taught me what unconditional (agape) love really is. You have to experience it personally, it cannot be taught!

Keatsie,

So true. Now I am getting a tast of what you have been experiencing for year. It's unbelievable!!!!

GREAT WORK! The 32kg Goblet squats are awesome! Won't be long before you are throwing that bulldog around.

Franz,

Great post and pic of Marianna! Being a dad only gets better as they become daddy's girl. That infant of mine that you met 2 and half years ago now runs at full speed, and picks up her own little kettlebell to imitate her dad. When you realize how much of a role model you are for your kids when they imitate your actions, mannerisms, etc, it really hits you that what you do and who you are impacts them tremendously. It certainly makes you try to be that much better of a person.

Pete,

Thanks man! We are having so much fun being parents. So your daughter is at full speed now...yikes! That must be fun though!

What you said about having you children emulate and copy you is very powerful. I can understand how important it is for you (and hopefully all fathers) to be the best role model possible. God willing I will be the best father I can be and raise my little girl in a Godly way.

Hope you are well Pete! Blessing to you and your family!

Having children is so awesome, you couldn't have put it better. And it's getting even better when you have more (I have three).
When the second is there, not only can you love him/her as much as your first, but even more, and then you can love your first even more than before, even if it sounds impossible...
Strength is a skill, but love seems to be a skill, too, crazy as it might sound :)

Gabi,

God willing we will have another child. Hopefully sooner than later :)

That would make a great article about"love is a skill" just like strength is a skill. Brilliant. Thank you for telling me that and for encouraging us to have more children.

Yoana and I often wonder if we will be able to love another child as much as we love Marianna. You have answered that question and for that I thank you!!!!

Gabi said...

Franz,

Yoana and you, you are both wonderful parents and you have nothing to fear!
All your children will be different, and you'll love them all differently. Not more or less, just differently. And when you see their differences, you'll start to see a lot more nuances in each of them, small things you haven't noticed before. You'll find them all even more unique, fantastic and amazing. And how could you not love them all the more for that? :)
