Still Rehabing..........

My low back is healing nicely. I can still feel the "wound" and still have plenty of awkward and vulnerable positions I encounter throughout the day. Strength wise my legs are coming back, although my legs feel as skinny as a Kenyan marathoner. It's been six weeks since my back injury and that is just enough time for the legs to get a little scrawny. Asthetic goals and functional goals do not always see eye to eye, but I'm convinced that in a couple more months my legs will come back up. That last two weeks I did throw in one session of static lunges with bodyweight and than this week with an 8kg. Man did that make me sore!!!

Here is a progression form the previous rehab exercises. They did their job and I am a believer in in these types of exercises when injured. My lumbar spine is more stable and feeling stronger although if I'm on my feet all day working with clients my back is sore by the mid-afternoon.

good to see your chek stuff in action. I love that stuff for rehab and pre hab.

one thing about skinny legs; getting my legs big and strong had been the primary goal of my life for many many years; ever since my knee injury actually.

only now, when I finally gave up on how big they were( are)and truly on focused on function, have they started to work fairly well.and this goes for my back as well.

closet bodybuilding effects us all but as we get older we really have to get a hold on it so it isnt more detrimental than it has to be.

as long as you r legs do what you want them to I would try not to worry about how they look.

nice post too.

Franz, ditto what Rif said about size...don't sweat it. Once your stability and mobility improve to functional levels you can worry about that, if you want. You will sprint faster at a lighter body weight as long as strength levels are where they should be.
I think perhaps you are about to embark on a journey in a new direction, athletically speaking, take it one day at a time...
Best wishes, as always,

Tom

Mark - legs are working well. And you right, that closet bodybuilding balony really effects us men. Damn!

Thank Tom - Trying to let my body heal and come back to normal. I am feeling rather strong and fresh - just feel like my legs are little thin. But you are correct - if I keep my bodyweight low and my strength high - good things will happen.

Ken - tyring to be patient. It's not easy!

Muscle memory...what a beautiful thing. Your legs will return, as well as all your previous athleticism. Thank you for sharing all of the rehab exercises, Franz.
