RKC Snatch Test

I was looking at Yoana this morning (six months pregnant) and asked her "Do you think you can still pass the RKC snatch test six months pregnant?" She said, "Of course. Although I am heavier and that will put me into a new weight class where I have to complete more reps. Let's try it though."

Well, needless to say she passed with flying colors and she completed 54 reps with the 12kg. Remember that Yoana has done 130 reps in 5 minutes with the 16kg, so she is very capable of doing some impressive numbers with both bells.

I decided to test myself as well. My numbers were 56 according to my bodyweight. I ended up doing 30 and 30. It wasn't to bad except my lungs were highly taxed.

Power on! KETTLEBELLS RULE!

Nice work, Franz and Yoana! Despite recovering, to put up snatch test numbers is just a testament to your strength and attention to technique.

You can definitely see the focus in both your faces. Intense!

Thanks Pete! We gotta know that we can still pass the test at the drop of the hat.

I don't agree....

I saw you the whole time and you finished without any problem. Your lungs weren't highly taxed. You also had a great speed and perfect technique.

You are very strong my love!

Sara,

Yes. I agree, Yoana is amazing! Thanks!

The reason your lungs felt taxed is obvious from your pictures, Franz--inappropriate footware! Safety violation! Now drop and give me 20! ;-]

Not right now, but we have a 2 year old and a 9 month old. I'm ready for another one!

The couple of months leading up to the first babechin was one of the best periods of my life. I bet you're loving it!

Doesn't the laxity in the joints during pregnancy due to hormone issues increase the risk of joint injuries??

Franz Snideman said...

Tom,

Yes, it does. However one must take in account the level of fitness and athleticism of each female athlete prior to pregnancy. She of course is not going to set any KB or deadlift records during pregnancy, but using the 12kg hardly poses a threat to her joints due to her level of conditioning. She can snatch the 24kg for reps, so the 12kg is a very safe weight for her, even for high reps.

Now for any other deconditioned women I would say yes, it could pose a threat!

Nice work! Yoana's level of conditioning should also aid in labor and delivery.
