Speed day - these are starting to feel better. Although when I really hit top speed, after 50 meters my right hamstring is talking to me. I've been backing off the end of each longer sprint once I feel the hamstring. Not sure what is going on. I suspect that my ATLAS (c-1) is totally whacked, causing me to tilt when I run. That tilt is causing a serious torsion in my pelvis, anteriorly rotating my righ illium. That is putting the hamstring under alot of tension. But this is nothing new. My body since I was a child has always been out of balance in the lumbar /pelvic area. Perhaps this is normal for me? Who knows?

2 x 60 meters (has to slow down around 55 meters because of right hamstring)
15 x Stadium Sprints (these felt awesome today. This exercise is really turning into one of my favorites. I can see alot of benefits such as faster arm turnover and quicker foot contact)

I feel the need, the need for speed. Love it. I hear you on the hammie. I strained my hammie a few times and believe that if I would have known more about Kbs and been deadlifting (to build the upper glute ham tie in and hammies in gernal to balance the strength with the quads and hip flexors I would have been better off.
If I only knew then what I think I know now ;-)

it may be normal but it will still f@$k you up.be very careful above taht threshold. you know how hard reall hammie injuries are to heal plus if that goes your back is right behind. play it safe till you build A LOT more base. you havent been back running much at all yet.

also,
try to discern what is 70,80 and 90% effort for each of your training distances. dont want to go much above 80% too regularly.I imagine 70-80% intensities would be like most other strength discipline, the most usefull territory.
Joe, Glad that I'm inspiring you to do more tempo running. Like I said in my earlier post on tempo running, it is one of the best conditioning methods out there, period!!!
Rif, you're right. I have to be very careful with my hammie. It's not bad, but I don't want it to get worse. my gut tells me that my ATLAS is so jacked that my weight is always shifted over to my left side. Running fast once per week is enough. And sprinting REALLY FAST can be tolerated maybe once every six weeks. Same principles as with strength training, you are so correct!
